All members of the 1775th are assigned
to a position in the squad. Each position is different and each
position is equally important to the function and success of the
squad. This section of the Leadership Guide will walk you through
each position and a general description of the role of each position.
CO, XO, XXO and Officers
These positions are responsible for the day to day and the overall
operation of the squad. These duties include taking OIC and leading
the squad in game as well as several operational duties such as
administration that needs to be accomplished in order for the
squad to continue running. For every hour in game each position
listed here spends another four or more hours out of game working
on items for the squad and the members. These positions are full
time positions.
Kompanie CO and XO
These positions each have three Zugs reporting to them. The focus
of these positions is to assist and oversee the operation of those
three Zugs. The Kompanies are assigned Zugs based on time zone.
Alpha takes the majority of the US players and Bravo takes the
majority of the Euro Players. The Kompanie Officers are responsible
for all members in their Kompanie as well as the day to day operations
of the Kompanie. The Kompanie Officers are also tasked with promoting
Zug Leaders and helping the Zug Leaders complete their tasks.
Zug Leaders
The Zug Leaders are responsible for their entire Zug and all members
that are assigned. Zugs leaders are to make sure that the Gruppe
Leaders have everything that they need to accomplish their jobs
and to support Gruppe Leaders in any way possible to ensure the
proper operation of the Gruppe. Zug Leaders are responsible for
the promotion and removal of Gruppe Leaders. Zug leaders report
directly to their respective Kompanie Officers.
Gruppe Leaders
The Gruppe Leader is responsible for members that are assigned
to them. The Gruppe Leader is to make sure that the roster is
correct and the most updated information is supplied to the Zug
Leader as far as troop maintenance. The Gruppe Leader is also
responsible for helping all the troops assigned to them in any
way possible. This would include: transferring members to a Gruppe
that fits the member’s time zone better, training members
and helping the members with any issue that may come up. The Gruppe
Leader will also assist the Zug Leader in any way that is needed
for the squad to continue to be a success.
All Leaders
Again all leaders should have the same basic abilities. You must
be in the position to help the squad and it members in the first
place. That is the number one rule for leadership in the 1775th.
You must be able to take OIC at times when an OIC is needed. Taking
the OIC position is nothing to be nervous about. All that is needed
is someone who can read the map and direct the troops to a position
where we are needed. Clear and continuous communication is required
at all times from all leaders. The leaders will always be accountable
for their troops and for the duties that they are expected to
complete. The duties that are assigned are only to ensure that
the members are provided with an organized group of players that
can accomplish objectives and provide a place for the member to
enjoy while they are online.
Leadership in the 1775th takes work, but for the people that are
in it for the members it is truly rewarding. Before accepting
a leadership position in this squad, please ask yourself if you
are doing this for you or for the members. If you answer is not
for the members and you are not willing to do anything in your
grasp to help the players and the squad by providing them the
best you can offer them, then please do not accept the leadership
position. Remember the 1775th is about providing the best environment
possible for the players. Players are always first.
